Bleach Stains on Your Clothes? No Need to Throw Them Away: Here’s the Solution
A bleach stain may seem irreversible, but with a little knowledge and care, it can often be minimized or cleverly disguised. A bleach stain doesn’t always mean a ruined garment!
Safety First (Crucial Rules)
-
Never mix bleach with alcohol. Always rinse the fabric thoroughly before attempting this method.
-
Never apply to delicate fabrics: Avoid wool, silk, viscose, and other sensitive materials.
-
Keep the total amount of alcohol under 10 ml per garment.
-
Work in a well-ventilated area (open a window) and lay the garment flat on a clean towel.
Step-by-Step Guide
1. Pre-wash (Mandatory)
-
Rinse the stained area under cool or lukewarm running water for at least 2 minutes.
-
Gently massage the fabric between your fingers to remove any remaining bleach.
-
Gently squeeze out excess water, without wringing.
2. Application
-
Pour 5 ml of clear alcohol (approximately one teaspoon) into a small container.
-
Soak a cotton ball or makeup remover pad with a maximum of 2 to 3 ml of alcohol (it should be damp, not dripping).
-
Gently dab the discolored area for 30 to 60 seconds, without rubbing.
3. Time of Action & Rinsing
-
Leave it on for 2 minutes.
-
Immediately rinse the area with clean water for 1 minute.
4. Repeat (If Necessary)
-
If the reduction is visible but insufficient, the operation can be repeated only once using another 2 to 3 ml of alcohol, following the exact same steps.
-
Note: This method does not remove the stain completely; it only lightens it, especially on dark fabrics.
5. Final Wash
-
Wash the garment immediately at the temperature indicated on the label using your usual detergent.
When the Stain Persists: Smart Solutions
If the discoloration is too pronounced, don’t panic. Here are some great alternatives to save your clothing:
